Purplemash is a creative online educational space that engages and challenges young learners and enhances their daily learning experience. Purplemash is a creative online learning space for young learners designed by 2Simple, an award winning UK educational software company, and it is intended to support and enhance every child’s daily learning experience.
Purplemash is a mash-up of creative tools, curriculum focused activities and programs to support and inspire creative learning both at school and at home. It features a comprehensive suite of creative tools; cross-curricular publishing projects; regularly updated topical activities; fun, textured painting projects; popular programs and games online; anywhere, anytime access online saving space for every user. How to log in?You can access the AAS Purplemash online environment from the top of this page or the school website www.aas-sofia.org. You need to go to www.aas-sofia.org and select the red link 'Students' from the top right corner of the site menu and type in your username and password. All lower school families are provided with their child's username and password in the beginning of the year. Teachers and CTAs have their classes assigned to their account so they can easily manage student accounts and student work. Students usernames and passwords are available from the shared document "Students passwords". All AAS elementary students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 have Purplemash student accounts, and all teachers are Instructors of their classes. However, Purplemash is used predominantly in our lower school and provides a seamless continuum to the AAS Google Apps. The upper elementary student use some of the advanced tools such as 2Design and Make and 2Code.
The Purplemash space is divided into several sections. The 'Themes' selection contains educational activities, organised by subject and curriculum area. The ''Serial Mash' section provides an online reading space and the 'Games' section offers a wide variety of entertaining educational games. Under 'Creative Tools' you can find a variety of Web2 software for publishing, image editing & animations, designing and making, manipulating databases, composing music, creative writing, multimedia authoring and programming. The creative tools are regularly updated and they include: 2Paint, 2Animate, 2Publish, 2Publish Extra, 2Write, 2Explore, 2Beat, 2Sequence, 2Design and Make, 2Graph, 2Count, 2Sequence, 2CreateStory, 2Go, 2Code, Logo and 2Investigate. There are accompanying help videos that children can use as a learning tool. Students save work under 'Online Docs' and are able to access it anytime from anywhere. In addition to the wide variety of creative tools and scaffolded activities, the teacher area provides a ‘Control panel’ for teachers to manage their classes and oversee student work as well as helpful tutorials, resources and ideas.
